Welcome to my review of Wow The Vegas Spectacular! I saw the show a couple of weeks ago, and I enjoyed it. But I want to help you decide if it’s worth your time and money.
So, in this article, I’ll be evaluating the production based on five criteria: theater, storyline, acts, special effects, and value.
I’ll also let you know my overall rating and if you’ll really say “Wow” after it’s over.
Now, on with the show!
Wow Showroom
- Sightlines: 4/5
- Seat Comfort: 4/5
Although a smaller space than the mega-shows in town, the Wow Theater was bigger than I expected.
I was also surprised to walk in and hear the sounds of birds chirping and see waterfalls around the room. It felt like we were out in nature, and it was a nice and relaxing change from the noise in the Rio Hotel.
What I appreciated the most about the Rio Showroom was that all the seats had padding. And there was a good mix of stools, booths, and chairs with decent spacing between them.
Most seating is on the sides of the theater or wraps around the stage. So, many guests will watch the production at an angle, which isn’t ideal.
I think this show is better if you can watch it from a center seat because you’ll have a direct view of the action. From where I sat on the side, I didn’t notice a few acrobats on the rear stage.
Show Storyline
- Story: 4/5
At Wow, you’ll go on a journey with the show’s star, a fisherman played by Alex Traisci. The production begins with Alex getting in his boat to sail across the water to do some fishing.
But soon, lightning strikes and something magical begins to happen. Mythical sea creatures arise out of the water. And lead us into the first show act – a cirque-style aerial performance.
As the show continues, the audience travels with Alex to more far-off lands with different variety acts.
For instance, you’ll sail through a waterway in Italy before stopping to see a plate-spinning chef. Or you might follow Alex as he swims to a performance at a famous Italian fountain.
During his journey, he also encounters a beautiful woman and pursues her heart. Unfortunately, though, I completely missed the development of the fisherman’s love interest.
So, I would’ve liked to have seen more interaction between the two – at least at the beginning of their romance.
The Vegas Spectacular Acts
- Circus Acts: 4.5/5
- Dancing: 4/5
- Comedy Routines: 4/5
I thought the Wow acts were all pretty good. And you’ll get to see a great mix of comedy, dancing, aerialists, and acrobats.
To give you a better idea of the show, a preview of a few of my favorites is below. Please skip this part if you want to be completely surprised when you’re there.
Human Foot Juggling
One of my favorite routines was the Rodriguez brothers and their human juggling act.
This is apparently a very famous circus act, but it was the first time I’d seen anything like it in Las Vegas.
In this performance, one of the brothers lies on a bench while the other brother flips and spins on his feet.
At the show I went to, the duo performed an incredible stunt called the propeller, where one brother spun around fast in the air.
I loved this entire act, but I was nervous the whole time. The level of skill, trust, and timing is impressive to watch. It was six minutes of unbelievable stamina!
Silvia Silvia
Silvia Silvia was on season 10 of America’s Got Talent. And since then, she’s become a favorite to watch at Wow The Vegas Spectacular.
Her act involves shooting arrows at balloons while her husband is within inches. No matter anyone’s age, this act would be impressive, but Silvia is doing this in her 60s. So, I have a great deal of respect for her.
She also performs a dangerous stunt that requires her total concentration. During the act, Silvia shoots an arrow that triggers a chain reaction of the crossbows.
But here’s the scary part – the last bow in the line is aimed at an apple on her head. Hands down, this was the most adrenaline-pumping performance of the night!
Singing In The Rain
My favorite dance routine of the show was a performance to the song “Singing in the Rain.” It’s such a cute number with the cast in their raincoats and umbrellas.
During the act, the performers dance on the water stage while rain falls from above. I loved all the big splashes they created with their dance moves. And some cast members even did acrobatic flips in the water!
Special Effects
- Video screens: 5/5
- Water stage: 3.75/5
Multimedia Screens
I wasn’t expecting to see such cool special effects. At most variety shows, you’ll watch different acts on stage with a curtain backdrop. But Wow takes their production to a whole new level.
The show features 180-degree wraparound screens with scenes designed for each performance. So, while you watch a beautiful woman swim in a glass bowl, you’ll feel like you’re in Italy at the Trevi Fountain.
But it’s not just the backgrounds that take the show up a notch. It’s also because some projections move, making you feel like you’re traveling in your seat. (If you’ve been on FlyOver, it feels similar to that.)
For instance, you’ll “rock” with the ocean waves during a dance number to a Titanic song:
Or float through an Italian canal with Alex at the helm:
Water Stage
Some of the acts at Wow incorporate water. And the rear stage even converts to a water stage. If you’ve seen O, the set doesn’t have deep water like that, more like a foot, but it’s still cool. And it’s something different from most shows in town.
Value For The Money
- Value: 4/5
Wow – The Vegas Spectacular is a mid-priced Las Vegas show and a top-seller, too.
When I went, I counted 11 acts in total. And that’s not including Alex’s comedy routines that he does between performances. So you get to see a lot of performers for the money.
What’s also great about this production is that there’s something for everyone. So, even if you don’t like a dance number or comedy routine, you’ll likely enjoy some of the other acts.
But there’s a pretty big spread in the ticket prices. For instance, it’s about a $40 difference between VIP and the cheapest ticket option.
So, with that in mind, I think the Premium seats at Wow offer the best value for the money. And if you can book early enough, get the Premium Front Center chairs for a more direct view.
My Wow Las Vegas Review
Overall, I’d rate this show 4.1/5 stars. It’s a cute production that’s great for everyone – families, couples, and even solo travelers. I had a fun time and thought it was worth the money I paid for the tickets.
But I think the show’s title, Wow – The Vegas Spectacular, sets people up with very high expectations.
For me, I wasn’t blown away by every act. I did have quite a few “wow” moments, though. And sometimes, I even feared for the cast members’ lives because the stunts were so impressive!
So if you go into the show expecting a good time at a variety show, I think you’ll enjoy it.
But you may be disappointed if you expect Wow to be on par with a Cirque du Soleil performance. While some acts are similar, it’s a different production level than Cirque.
What Could Be Improved
Pirate Act
One of the first acts of the show involves a pirate ship with the Wow cast dancing around in pirate costumes. Unfortunately, the dancers’ movements in this act weren’t in unison. And it just didn’t seem like they were all that into it.
I also didn’t notice the acrobat on the rear stage because I was so focused on the dancers’ moves. So, I wish more attention would have been put on the acrobat. I think that would have made this number a lot better.
That said, I found the dancing pretty good in the other routines. So, it could have just been a fluke with this one.
Storyline
Now, you don’t need a storyline to have a great show. But if a production tries to incorporate one, I like it to be easy to follow. Unfortunately, I didn’t find that to always be the case during Wow.
There were times when it was apparent why we were in certain lands. But then, in other parts of the show, I didn’t know how we got there.
I was also confused by Alex’s love interest. I wasn’t sure how that came to be. It just seemed like, all of a sudden, he had a girlfriend. And it was unclear if finding love was the point of his big journey.
So I would’ve liked it better had the story been more connected. But if you try not to think too much about it and just go for the acts, the story doesn’t matter as much.
What I Enjoyed The Most
Circus Acts
There’s a lot of exceptional talent at this show. One of my favorite performances was the roller skating trio. It’s crazy how fast they spin and how close the women’s heads get to the ground.
I also thought the human juggling brothers were phenomenal. And watching the guys run on the wheel of death was nerve-racking!
But I was most in awe of Silvia Silvia. I have so much respect for her and can’t believe what she can do with crossbows. I also think it’s fantastic that Wow features talent of all ages in their production.
Element Of Surprise
This Las Vegas show has a lot of surprises. For instance, things that I thought were stationary came to life. And I enjoyed the scenes where it felt like I was traveling in my seat.
I was also amazed by the video projections that incorporated the show’s star and the production’s creative use of water.

My Final Thoughts
For me, Wow got better as the night went on. I found that each successive act got more and more impressive.
I’ll probably go back and watch the show again in a few months. I’d like to see if they make any changes with the renovation going on at the Rio. And I imagine the theater will be more packed after that’s finished.
All in all, this was a cute, feel-good show with a lot of fun surprises throughout!
