About Piff The Magic Dragon

Piff The Magic Dragon (whose real name is John van der Put) is a magician and comedian. He was on Season 10 of America’s Got Talent but lost during the finals.

Before John became Piff, he would perform magic at parties. But his sarcastic sense of humor often got him into trouble.

Then, one day, he was invited to a costume party and wore a dragon outfit. To his surprise, everyone loved his jokes! So he decided to make the costume permanent.

However, John still felt something was missing, so he included a dog at a festival. The crowd enjoyed it so much that he went out and found Mr. Piffles the next day.

So now, in Vegas, you can catch Piff and his chihuahua at the Flamingo in one of the most hilarious shows on The Strip!

Location

The Piff The Magic Dragon Las Vegas show is inside the Showroom theater at the Flamingo Hotel. The address is 3555 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109.

from rideshare dropoff

For guests taking a rideshare service, you’ll get dropped off at the South Entrance on the lower level. From there, enter the Flamingo Hotel and go up the escalators to the lobby.

Then, walk down the stairs to the casino floor and continue straight until you get to a row of palms. Next, turn left and follow the walkway to the Showroom, and the theater is just ahead on the right.

You can’t miss the entrance to the theater! Look for the attendant sitting out front selling Piff The Magic Dragon merchandise.

from the parking garage

If you’re driving to the show, you’ll park in Flamingo’s South Parking Garage. Park on floor three if you can; otherwise, you’ll need to take the stairs or elevator to this level.

Across from the elevator on floor three, you’ll see a sign that says “Hotel Entrance.” Walk through the doors here and continue along the corridor until you get to the monorail sign.

Next, turn left to go down the escalators to the Promenade walkway and follow the signs to hotel registration. Then, take a right at the hotel lobby and go down the stairs to the casino floor.

Continue walking straight until you get to a row of planted palms. Finally, turn left to walk along the pathway to the Showroom. The entrance to the theater will be just ahead on the right.

Dates & Times

Piff The Magic Dragon’s Vegas show runs on most Saturdays through Tuesdays. So, you typically won’t find performances on Friday nights. There’s also only one show nightly at 7:00 pm.

SEE THE SCHEDULE

How Long Is The Show?

The Piff The Magic Dragon show lasts about 90 minutes (an hour and a half). For instance, when I was there, it started at 7:00 pm and ended at 8:25 pm.

However, the length will vary by at least a few minutes each night. And that’s because Piff likes to involve the audience in his acts.

Theater Information

Piff’s been performing at the Flamingo for the past seven years, and he just signed on for three more! He’s become so popular that he recently got promoted to a larger theater called the Showroom.

The good news about the Showroom is that it’s a medium-sized venue, so even if you’re further back, you’ll still have a view.

In addition, large screens on the sides and in the center give you a close-up look at what’s happening on stage. But just know that the screens aren’t always used during the show.

Now, except for the VIP chairs, all the rows are elevated. So, no matter where you choose to sit, you’ll be able to see the stage. That said, you may still have some heads in your sightline, but it shouldn’t be too distracting.

Before entering the theater, you can grab a drink at the bar next to the Flamingo Showroom stairs. Or you can order from your server once you’re at your seat.

The menu offers a fantastic selection of beverages, including specialty cocktails, spirits, wine, and even non-alcoholic options.

Tickets

There are three ticket options inside the theater:

  • VIP
  • Tables
  • Booths
CHECK TICKET PRICES

At most Vegas shows, tickets cost more the closer you are to the stage. But that’s only partially the case at the Piff The Magic Dragon Las Vegas show.

For example, the seats in the first few rows will command the highest prices. And you’ll still find the lowest rates at the booths in the last row. But everything in between those is typically priced the same.

On most days, you can expect ticket prices to start around $60 for back-row seating and go up to $90 for VIP tickets. Of course, like all Vegas shows, applicable taxes and fees are added to the base ticket price. And rates are always subject to change.

Sound Considerations

I thought the sound volume was just right. It wasn’t too loud or too quiet.

Piff does tend to talk a little fast, though. And when it’s combined with his slight British accent, some guests may have difficulty understanding him. So, the closer you are to the stage, the better you’ll hear him.

What’s The Show Like?

With his recent promotion to the Flamingo Showroom, Piff created a brand-new production. So, even if you’ve seen him in Vegas before, his show has some different acts now. Additionally, if you followed him on AGT, you’ll see tricks you didn’t get to see on TV.

SEE TICKET OPTIONS

Of course, you’ll still get to watch Mr. Piffles perform! And there’s also Las Vegas showgirl Jade Simone, with her fantastic facial expressions. Zack, the Squire, Piff’s assistant, has some excellent comedic moments too.

Now, to give you a general idea of the show, there’s card magic, some mind reading, and puzzle games with Mr. Piffles. And then there’s the chance to win “Piff Swag.” Plus a ton of comedy in the acts as well.

But if that leaves too much to the imagination, here’s a video that’ll give you a better idea of the illusions and humor. I did NOT see this trick in his new show, so as far as I know, it’s spoiler-free!

Piff gets his comedic material from audience interaction. So he does a lot of improvisation, which makes his show a little different each night.

FAQs: Piff The Magic Dragon In Las Vegas

Below are some questions people often ask about the show.

Are Food And Drinks Served At The Show?

No food is allowed inside the theater, but you can have beverages at your table. Drinks are available at the bar next to the theater entrance. Or you can order from your cocktail server once you’re seated.

That said, there’s no requirement to buy beverages, so if you don’t want to get drinks, that’s perfectly fine.

If you do, the servers come by before the show starts and during the performance. But it’s usually best to order before the show begins, as trying to get your server’s attention in the dark can be challenging.

The Flamingo Showroom beverage menu

Every table has a QR code placard that you can scan with your phone’s camera to view the menu. I’ve also posted the menu on the night I went so you can see the beverage options and prices.

Specialty cocktails currently start at $20, canned cocktails at $10, and wine at $18. There are also non-alcoholic selections like bottled water, Red Bull, and soda. These start at $8.

Is There A Dress Code?

There’s no set dress code for the Piff The Magic Dragon show in Vegas. So you can wear casual attire like shorts, jeans, and t-shirts. Or you can dress up if you’d like. When I went, about half the audience dressed up, and the other half wore casual clothes.

Is There A Meet And Greet?

After the show, you can meet Piff, Jade Simone, and Mr. Piffles. A staff member will even take a photo on your phone – for free. Of course, you’re also welcome to pet Mr. Piffles!

To say hi to the cast, you’ll need to exit the theater and get in the line to the right. You can’t miss it – just look for the queueing posts.

Is Piff The Magic Dragon For Adults?

Yes, Piff’s Vegas show is a fantastic option for adults. Piff combines magic with a lot of adult humor that will keep you laughing almost the entire time.

CHECK FOR DISCOUNTS

Where Are The Restrooms?

Unfortunately, there aren’t any restrooms inside the Showroom theater. But you’ll find one diagonally across from the entrance next to the X Burlesque Theatre.

Reentry into the Flamingo Showroom is allowed if you need to go during the show. But because of the narrow aisles in the theater, it’s much better to visit the restrooms before the show starts.

If you’re bringing children, you might want to find another restroom. Since this one is so close to the X Burlesque Theatre, there are images of scantily clad women near the entrance.

Is There An Age Limit For Piff The Magic Dragon?

Yes, all guests must be eight years of age or older to watch Piff’s show in Vegas.

Are There Souvenirs?

You can get merchandise next to the Flamingo Showroom stairs. Just look for the “Piff Swag” signage. An employee sits there before and after the show, so you can buy souvenirs anytime while you’re there.

The following were the available merchandise options and prices on the night I went. But you can also find more Piff Swag, like mugs, hoodies, and posters, on Piff’s website.

  • T-shirt: $35
  • Piff Deck (playing cards): $20
  • Mr. Piffles Plush: $30
  • Hats: $25

Is Piff The Magic Dragon Family Friendly?

Yes, the Piff The Magic Dragon show is an excellent option for kids and families. But he does swear a little throughout his performance.

Specifically, I heard him say the s-word a few times, but I didn’t hear any other bad words. There were also a few suggestive topics in his jokes, but children won’t likely understand them.

Mat Franco and Nathan Burton are also fantastic show options for children.

My Final Thoughts

I think Piff The Magic Dragon is absolutely worth seeing, and overall, I’d rate it 4.75/5.0. It’s a great mix of comedy and magic, so it’s like you’re getting two shows for the price of one.

The tricks are excellent and entertaining, and I’m still trying to figure out how he did them. I laughed the entire time, too, and his show is now one of my favorites in town.

The only negative, which has nothing to do with Piff, is that the seating in the Showroom could be better. So, I recommend checking out my seating guide (linked above) before getting tickets.

Also, since Piff’s show is popular, booking as soon as possible is always a good idea!
